Pilot

Helmsman Jonathan "Huey" Hughes is a thirty-six year old human with a penchant for getting out of trouble. From a young age, he was using his charismatic smile and skills with wiggling himself out of sticky situations to keep his head - and those of others - above water. Raised in one of the most well-off human colonies in space, Huey made his way into Academy to perfect his piloting skills. His carefree attitude towards dangerous missions caused a lot of abrasion with the brass, however, a certain commanding officer found him quite worthy of the program as his talent far exceeded that of even a few professors. Later, it was discovered that commanding officer and Huey were having relations privately. He was scorned for 'sleeping his way' to graduation, though he's certain those who protested were merely jealous he hadn't gotten to bury himself up their asses in the most satisfying way possible. That's right. Huey is gay. However, based on his day to day personality, he doesn't exude the over-the-top personality one may identify as being 'gay.' His sexual orientation certainly does not define him in the least, for his charisma is too overwhelming to let anyone see how he lives his private life as a fault. His sense of humor is often a relief against the strict rules of military life and he's not afraid to dance that line of insubordination. Five years out of flight school and twelve serving vessels later, Huey found his home away from home aboard the Lacerta under the command of Alex Banner. It is here where he can let his humor flourish and find mutual respect amongst a well balanced crew.

Navigator

Ensign Rosa Wright is the youngest member of the team, but also one of the brightest. Her academic knowledge surpasses a great many only at nineteen thanks to a photographic memory as well as an incredible talent for problem-solving and making connections. While on other ships, these talents would go to waste thanks to her position, on the Lacerta, she is often brought into tactical meetings as an adviser. Her youth has on occasion allowed for a different perspective on situations and she has proven invaluable more times than once. She yearns for acceptance and does best with light praise. Harsh admonishment can cause her to falter in trying situations, and thus it is best to let her work through difficult situations on her own without interfering much. While on duty, she maintains a very strict professional conduct, though when she is off, she is almost a different person! Far more inviting and extroverted than people would think possible, she knows how to cut loose on down time.

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Keeley Nichols is a forty-seven year old woman well used to the ways of spacing. Born in one of the first human colonies on another planet, she has never known what it is to think of Earth as home. Home to her is most definitely where the heart is. The Lacerta crew is without a doubt, her heart. She lives for each of them and does everything she can to ensure their health to maximize their chances on each mission as she demands they return to her each time with a beating heart. It is her only requirement, and as of yet, no one has denied her. Calm in tense situations, she can hold off an artery while demanding a panicking crew mate keep their cool and assist her as an assistant surgeon. She makes do with what supplies she has, but will pester the requisitions officer often enough if she believes they are low enough to impact the healthy and safety of the crew.

Requisitions Officer

Lieutenant Commander Jorge McCoy is an elder among spacers. Nearing his eighties, he still remains in excellent health. While he's not one to bring to a fist fight, he can still hold his own in a firefight. Once a skilled soldier, he knows his way around the armory, though most often leaves that to the youngsters. When he is not ordering supplies to be ready at their next port, McCoy is entertaining off-duty crewmen with card games famed for their high bets. A fair man, he wins large and loses large sums of money, usually striking even. As he is older, he sometimes must be hounded about certain supplies, but he is good-natured about forgetting that people often don't stay irritated with him for long.

Yeoman

Yeoman Grace Idell has the patience of a saint. She does the clerical work aboard the Lacerta. Filing reports, sending emails and organizing intel for the Captain, she deals with the political, bureaucratic red tape as if it's child's play. She seems to quite enjoy making politicians stand on their ears in confusion while they try to figure out just what they were missing when it came to deals with her. Manipulative in a way that matters, she gets things done and knows how to dance around toes so as not to step on them too harshly. When it comes to council, Idell mostly holds her own and doesn't advise her Captain. She presents information as a neutral party. Only if she is asked for her opinion will she give it. In her off time, she is a skilled cook even with low-grade military rations. Every once and a while, she can be convinced to cook a decent meal for the entire crew - though this usually requires a monumental occasion.

Chief Engineering Officer

Corporal Shane Malloy has the quirky kind of personality one needs to have a love for machines that rivals that for humans. A problem solver who enjoys puzzles, he will drool over an impressive drive core before noticing a naked woman practically lounging in his lap. Not easily distracted from a job once he's in the midst of it, he can be heard cursing at machinations if they are proving to be difficult to repair, heedless of anyone talking to him. If he does participate in conversation while elbow deep in grease and cogs, it is often disjointed and sometimes hard to follow as he practically vomits out thoughts as he has them.

Infiltrator

Lieutenant Trent Carter is an invaluable member of the ground team. Once a hit for hire, he was recruited by the military as a freelancer. Paid for each successful mission, his loyalty was often questioned as he was a bit looser with the law than they demanded. However, his methods garnered results. It wasn't until he was assigned to the Lacerta five years before and put under the command of a woman two years younger that Trent learned what it was to have loyalty. He saw the most stunning example of it when Alex Banner, a lieutenant at the time, had shielded him during a firefight with her own proton shields when his own were down. Vulnerable, he'd been forced to wait for his shields to recover before pulling his comrade in arms to safety. A few burns from the fight had shown that Banner hadn't escaped the heroics unscathed, but she'd never given him a hard time for his foolish actions that nearly killed the pair of them. Since then, he signed on fully as a member of the military under the condition that he served only under Alex Banner. He has a great respect for her as a leader and will follow her to Hell and back.

Weapons Expert

Michealis Barrett is another member of the ground team. He is quite brutish in appearance, though he's the heart of a lion. Protective and almost fatherly to the majority of the crew, he has invaluable advice, all while cleaning the barrel of a heavy weapon capable of taking out a small class cargo ship. Broad in shoulders and thickly muscled, he is not made for silence and is called in when the hope for surprise is long gone. He may also serve as a body guard on political visits. His lax attitude hides his incredibly alert senses, making him talented at being overlooked as just a big, dumb meat head without a brain for himself. That is...until said meat head sees what you're thinking and rips your head off. He and Carter have a friendly repertoire of barbs and insults for each other used on the battlefield to keep each other's blood up and alert to better take on deadly enemies.
