This is a landmark left by one hell of a meteor. The area's perimeter is an estimated 2 square miles in diameter, clear of foliage and most wildlife excepting Lepidopteran Kites. No one really knows just how deep it is, as few dare to venture into it. Smoke and unsettled ash are peppered and float above the marred terrain. Entering the area alone irritates any set of sensitive lungs. It's called the Viridian Abyss because as one looks down into the deep trench, a viridian hue appears to fill the very bottom. There is a collection of stagnant fluid that isn't believed to be ordinary water due to the abnormal color, and Kites may be seen descending into its depths to lay eggs. Who knows what else is hidden beneath the liquid? Who knows what the liquid itself is? The wise let themselves continue to wonder.
